Summary:  

Pocahontas is a one hospital town and the hospital has 50 beds with a Level 4 Trauma designation. Pocahontas Medical Clinic(PMC) is locally owned. They currently have 5 Family Practitioners and 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners. This is a very busy practice in need of sourcing and securing a new physician due to a physician relocating.



Pocahontas is located in Randolph County and has a population of 6500. It is the only county in the US with 5 rivers running through it. They are very proud to be listed as one of the Top 3 Most Affordable Cities in Arkansas. PMC is located between three other communities with the closest being Jonesboro Arkansas, which is 40 minutes away.

Growth Needs: The city of Pocahontas has been awarded a new plant that opens in 2015 and will employ over 1000 people and consequently will increase the PMC patient visits. They will need to recruit additional physicians to meet the needs.

Anthony Pemberton is the CEO of Pocahontas Medical Clinic. Most of PMC’s staff, including the providers, were born and raised in Pocahontas. They like to describe the facility as “your hometown healthcare clinic”. PMC opened its doors in August of 1979 and, in addition to the 7 providers, they employ 40 supplementary staff. With the continued growth of Pocahontas, PMC plans to expand by opening a new clinic. At that point, they will need to bring in another physician as well as a Nurse Practitioner. 


When this recruiting process began, PMC needed one physician to start in 2014 and an additional provider for the new clinic that will open in 2015. “Their quick and timely placement certainly meets our immediate need and we are confident they will fill our next need as soon as it’s launched”, said Anthony Pemberton, CEO.

Anthony evaluated a few firms before arriving at his decision to move forward with THC. “It was an immediate need and I truly believed THC would deliver the best candidate and in a very expedient manner, and they did”. Anthony described the challenges to successfully recruit to Pocahontas, as their rural setting. “It’s tough to find applicants who want to live in this setting”. He has worked with other firms, while working in a similar position for another organization, and he was always frustrated with the lack of communication and wondering where they were in the process. He said, “every time he signed a contract with a recruiting firm---I never heard from them again”.
