Meet Norma Mills - Director of Marketing for THC!

Meet Norma Mills, The Hire Connection's director of marketing.  She is a rock star on her team and we wanted you to get to know her a little better.  We put some questions to Norma, and here are her answers!

1) Where are you from?

I grew up on a rural farm outside of Columbia, MO – enjoying the community life-style.

2) Who is your family and do you have any pets?

My husband and I have been married over 35+ years – we always laugh and say “we were young and dumb” when we got married.  But have survived many challenges together and marriage is the best thing in life!

We have two sons, one daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.  My husband and I are empty-nesters – but always enjoy family time whenever we get the chance.

3) Why do you like working at The Hire Connection?

This company sets high standards and I like a challenge.  This is serious business!  I enjoy learning about the healthcare recruiting industry and I have especially enjoyed the many people I have had an opportunity to do phone presentations with.  The working environment at THC – is fun – creative and I love it!!

4) What kind of music do you like?

I enjoy most types of music – It’s my form of relaxation – a little pop, soft rock and country – and of course at the Lake – I’ve got to enjoy 101.9 The Wave radio station for me.

5) What’s your favorite thing to do when not working?

I enjoy hanging out at the pool with friends, boating on the lake or on raining days – just cooking in my kitchen.

6) Who is your favorite sports team or figure?

It’s the St. Louis Cardinals – Baseball!

7) If you could have lunch with anyone living today, who would it be and why?

My best lunch date – would have to be my husband and family – but my next best lunch date would have to be……Zig Ziglar!

He teaches in such a way that motivates you, yet he doesn’t lose track of his morals, commitment to family, faith and responsibility in life.  He is down-to-earth and enjoyable.  In one lunch setting – I would be able to learn so much.

8) What’s the last good book you read?

John Maxwell’s “15 Invaluable Laws of Growth” – I enjoy his books – they keep me focused on how to be a better person and reach my full potential in life.

9) How did you get into marketing?

I am customer-service driven and have always made it my goal to help people.  Marketing allows me to be myself yet “think outside of the box” – see the big picture – to be able to provide customer-service through Marketing in my own style.

10) What’s the best thing about living at the Lake of the Ozarks?

The beauty of nature is all around me – whether it’s a boat ride on the lake – the snow falling on the lake – the vibrant fall colors on the bluffs or the excitement you feel in the summer…..This is truly my home and I get to enjoy this job while Lake of the Ozarks surrounds me daily.

Our 3 step process

1. You will meet with our Operations Manager to talk about:

After this meeting we will ask you to head home and digest everything.  After you have done some soul searching and if both parties are ready, the we move on to step 2.

2.  Step 2 takes approximately 1.5 hours. You will sit down with both the Recruiters and Business Development personnel. You will patch in and listen to phone conversations. This will give you real time exposure to what a day in the life at THC is like!

3. If you make it to step 3, you are close to beginning the most amazing journey you will ever be a part of. In this meeting, you will sit down with ownership to visit about the opportunity.

The Hire Connection at the Beautiful Lake of the Ozarks

A Little History

 The Hire Connection team lives and works in one of the most beautiful and exciting places in the entire country!  A hidden gem in the Midwest, the Lake of the Ozarks offers something for everyone.  The lake stretches 92 miles in length and we have more shoreline than the State of California!  The serpentine shape of the lake has earned it the nickname of "Magic Dragon". 

The lake was created by the construction of the 2,543-foot (775 m) long Bagnell Dam by Union Electric Company of St. Louis, Missouri. The principal engineering firm was Stone and Webster. Construction began August 8th, 1929, and was completed in April 1931. The dam is operated and maintained by Ameren Missouri, the successor of Union Electric, under the authority of a permit issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The Lake of the Ozarks measures more than 90 miles (140 km) in length and has several tributaries supplying it. In total, it has over 1,100 miles (1,800 km) of shoreline in four different Missouri counties. The massive body of water backed up behind Bagnell Dam is the second largest man-made lake in Missouri.

What's going on at the Lake

With the huge amount of shoreline, pristine coves, and beaches, the lake is the center of the Midwest for water activities.  We have marinas, waterfront restaurants, gas docks, and on any given day, you can see about any type of boat from kayaks to 70+ foot cruisers.  Throughout the year, the Lake of the Ozarks is the center of the universe for world class fishing tournaments and boat events.  The racing events range from PWC and Canoe racing to the big boy racing events like the Off Shore Series racing and "The Shootout" to see who has the best "Go Fast" boat in the country.


The Lake of the Ozarks also boasts some of the best golfing in the area with a golf trail of 13+ top notch golf courses.  The Club at Porto Cima is a Jack Nicholas design that consistently ranks in the top golf courses in the USA.  The restaurant and nightlife scene at the Lake always is hopping with a huge variety of menus, events, and live music.  If shopping is your thing, then our outlet malls and other large retails stores can get you great bargains or the newest toy or fashion.



Our rolling hills and forests also have great hiking and biking.  There are several events throughout the year that attract motorcycle enthusiasts and our local rides are fantastic!

Raising your family at the Lake

In addition to the tremendous recreational activities at the Lake, we also have some of the finest schools in Missouri.  The communities that make up the lake area have low taxes, low crime, and a great family friendly atmosphere perfect for raising a family.  Our community is also very giving, and on any particular night, there is a charity function going on to help the needy in our area.  Our churches are vibrant and engaged in the area.
