Summary:  

Pocahontas is a one hospital town and the hospital has 50 beds with a Level 4 Trauma designation. Pocahontas Medical Clinic(PMC) is locally owned. They currently have 5 Family Practitioners and 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners. This is a very busy practice in need of sourcing and securing a new physician due to a physician relocating.



Pocahontas is located in Randolph County and has a population of 6500. It is the only county in the US with 5 rivers running through it. They are very proud to be listed as one of the Top 3 Most Affordable Cities in Arkansas. PMC is located between three other communities with the closest being Jonesboro Arkansas, which is 40 minutes away.

Growth Needs: The city of Pocahontas has been awarded a new plant that opens in 2015 and will employ over 1000 people and consequently will increase the PMC patient visits. They will need to recruit additional physicians to meet the needs.

Anthony Pemberton is the CEO of Pocahontas Medical Clinic. Most of PMC’s staff, including the providers, were born and raised in Pocahontas. They like to describe the facility as “your hometown healthcare clinic”. PMC opened its doors in August of 1979 and, in addition to the 7 providers, they employ 40 supplementary staff. With the continued growth of Pocahontas, PMC plans to expand by opening a new clinic. At that point, they will need to bring in another physician as well as a Nurse Practitioner. 


When this recruiting process began, PMC needed one physician to start in 2014 and an additional provider for the new clinic that will open in 2015. “Their quick and timely placement certainly meets our immediate need and we are confident they will fill our next need as soon as it’s launched”, said Anthony Pemberton, CEO.

Summary:  CREOKS Behavioral Health Services is an organization that provides services to the underinsured and uninsured in Tulsa, OK.  They have over 20 clinics throughout the state, covering Northeast and Central Oklahoma.  In 1980, a group of professionals, that included counselors, ministers, city managers, county commissioners, bankers, and involved citizens of the Tulsa area, formed a team to meet the mental health needs of 3 counties.  CREOKS is certified by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). 



CREOKS mission is the pursuit of ensuring affordability, quality and integrity of all services, as well as promoting education, community partnerships and the development of additional programs and methods to meet direct client needs and organizational challenges.    CREOKS continues to grow rapidly and the needs for behavioral health issues are in high demand.

Physician Staff: 20 Psychiatrists

Growth Needs: We just opened a 16 bed crisis unit and we are planning to open 7-10 sites as Behavioral Health Homes for patients with mental health issues.

Recruitment Method: Outsourced Recruiting

Brent Black is the CEO of CREOKS and he has been with the organization for over 15 years.  Our primary contact is Chris Perry which amongst other responsibilities oversees all provider recruitment.  He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University where he studied counseling before he launched his career with CREOKS in patient care, ultimately moving into the management of CREOKS over the past 5 years. 



Prior to using recruiting firms, CREOKS expanded their physician base through word of mouth and even utilized the model of providers going temporary(Locum-tenens) to permanent.  Chris indicated it was very costly way to recruit and decided to take a different direction.

Then we met The Hire Connection
When we asked Chris why he ultimately went with The Hire Connection(THC) he said, “it was initially the money and how affordable they were.   Most firms I was considering were asking us to pay upwards of $50,000.00 to bring us a Psychiatrist and The Hire Connection was much more reasonable.”  CREOKS was using locums for quite some time before realizing the cost was really putting a dent in their bottom line.  “My frustration with other firms we used in the past, was that newly recruited physicians never stayed and the candidates that were forwarded to us were poor quality”. 



CREOKS was under a lot of pressure to find a Psychiatrist for the new Crisis Center that was being built.  They needed The Hire Connection to find a Psychiatrist to start within 3 months after they signed the agreement with THC.  That was a tall order.  The Hire Connection delivered a board certified high level Psychiatrist in the allotted time.  Shortly after that successful recruitment, Chris asked THC to secure a mid-level provider with a mental health background.  In 5 short weeks, THC was able to secure the Advanced Nurse Practitioner they were seeking.
