It's hard to believe that Facebook is now 12 years old and that Twitter has been around for over 10 years! LinkedIn is the Facebook for professionals, and Google+ has 111 million active users and still growing. YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world. Many people now get their news only from social media. They also get local news, sports, entertainment, gossip, and even the weather from their social accounts. Considering this information, it's easy to see why a diagnoses in the hematology-oncology field can be so horrifying - especially for pediatric patients.
